A Literary & Visual Arts Series:
tell it! tuesdays: Senegal

tell it! tuesdays is a literary and visual arts series that highlights visual and performance artists, journalists and writers from around the globe, as they hold literary and photographic presentations, exhibitions, and talks directly with the audience about their work. Join us on the last Tuesday of every month where the artists take the stage with their work and tell it!

This month, Senegal.

We will be highlighting the work of writers, photographers, and poets who have pinpointed their Senegalese heritage as playing a role in their exploration of the theme “self-love.”

If you would like to present your journalistic work, photography, short film, or creative writing, please send an email to tellittuesdays@outlook.com with a short description of what you would like to present (what medium, title, duration) along with a short bio. Open to submissions until September 12th.

Suggested donation: 5 euro / 4 students
Open to all – donations are strongly recommended, as all proceeds will be going towards the artists and presenters.

** We understand that borders implemented during colonial imperialism and militarisation and consequent nation-state names may not reflect just voices eliminated by the modern-day designation of “country borders.” We seek to curate a space for increased attention to the vernacular voices of specific spaces, therefore we actively engage in examining terms like nation-hood/state/borders, migration, and community alongside exhibitions and presentations, and seek to include as many of the marginalised voices in artistic and literary practice, from all around the globe.

This space and its events, do not tolerate violence of any kind that threatens people on the basis of ethnicity, national origin, skin colour, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, physical appearance, socio-economic lines, religious affiliation, age, disability, language, migration status, or health. We explicitly reject queerphobia, transphobia, racism and sexism.
