#HowToBecomeABetterAlly – Self-Education Group against Racism

What it is about?
Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) have to cope with racism on a daily basis. It is the responsibility of White and White-passing people to support the BIPOC community by becoming better allies.
We created the #HowToBecomeABetterAlly Group to explore all aspects of racism and white privilege, as well as what it means to be anti-racist. The base will be a self-educating model with the support of literature. We will train ourselves and each other by reporting to the group, giving & receiving feedback, and exchanging ideas. The goal is to help each other become better allies to the BIPOC community by fostering a critical intersectional perspective and taking action against racism.
Who can join?
We welcome anyone who is interested in joining us. We value an open, respectful, and collaborative mindset. Whether you have just started your journey against racism or have been actively anti-racist for many years, there is always room and space to grow.
How does the 1st meeting work?
Please note that this is the very first meeting of the #HowToBecomeABetterAlly Group, in which we will introduce the idea behind the group, what we will do in detail, how the sessions will work, and answer all your questions. All following sessions will focus on the actual work and will be organised internally.
For us: This meeting is to gauge initial interest.
For you: This is to figure out if you’d like to join #HowToBecomeABetterAlly and start working together.

Does the event cost something?
The #HowToBecomeABetterAlly meetings are free for BIPOC. White people are asked to make a donation based on their means. All proceeds of the meetings will go to the Initiative Schwarze Menschen in Deutschland Bund e.V. (http://isdonline.de/)
